Sep 15 2005, Mumbai : Four dancers represented Smitalay at the annual 
Kala Gurjari classical group dance competition.
 
Smitalay's team won the third prize.
 
Sep 2005, California, USA : Guru Smt Jhelum Paranjape is visiting the USA  holding
workshops for eager students. This programme is in collaboration with Odissi Vilas
founded by her student Sri Vishnutattva Das. She will also be performing with the
Odissi Vilas dancers.  
 
Aug 21 2005, Mumbai : "Yuva Mahotsavtsav" was celebrated in the memory of the great 
Sanjukta Panigrahi. This year Smitalay invited Bharatanatyam dancers from Mumbai's Bharatanatyam 
schools. This festival was started last year to revive interest into the classical Indian dance forms.
 
June 04 2005, Mumbai : Smitalay’s troupe along with Guru Jhelum Paranjape perform 
for the bicentennial celebration of  the State Bank of India, at the 
Jamshyed Bhabha Auditorium, Nariman Point. The programme was attended by 
Hon. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finanace Minister Shri P. Chidambaram,
Chariman of State Bank of India Shri A. K. Purwar.
 
May 13 2005, Mumbai : A five day  workshop on Odissi conducted by Guru Jhelum Paranjape
ends.
 
April 22 2005, Mumbai : DOORDARSHAN  NAVRATNA AWARDS. Students of Smitalay
 along with Guru Smt. Jhelum Paranjape, perform an eight minute dance piece 
choreographed by Smt. Paranjape. The theme is based on empowerment 
of women against dowry and oppression in marriage.
 
April 10 2005, Mumbai : “GURU PRANAM”, on the occasion of the 1st death anniversary of
Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra  at Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha, Vile Palre (e).
 
March 18 2005, Bhubaneswar : Guru Jhelum Paranjape performs after receiving the prestigious Mahari
 award presented by Guru Pankaj Charan Odissi Research Foundation at Bhubaneswar, 
Orissa (given for the first time in ten years to a non-Odiya Odissi dancer).
 
March 08 2005, Mumbai : International Women's is Day celebrated, by presenting ‘BAHINAAI’ 
a dance ballet interpreting the philosophical poetry of Bahina Bai Choudhary of Maharashtra.
Choreography by senior student and teacher of Smitalay Ankur Ballal. 
Performance is at the newly constructed stage in Sane Guruji Arogya Mandir hall.
