In archaic terms, it is a harmonious meeting of tradition and modernity. It brings together two of India ’s strongest sub-cultures – classical movement systems and indefatigable Bollywood tunes. It is Bollywood redefined. It is pure Bollywood Hungama, but…..Odissi Ishtyle!

‘Bollywood Hungama Odissi Ishtyle’ is a unique production that depicts Hindi film songs through classical Odissi dance, giving a totally new dimension to Hindi film music.

From Piya Tose to Shola Jo Bhadke, from Kajra Re to Rang De Basanti, it charts the journey of Hindi film music, or Bollywood music as it is more popularly known, right from the forties to the present time through non-Bollywood dancing.

The first half, consisting of songs from the forties to the seventies, uses pure Odissi to convey a gamut of expressions and emotions in a hitherto undiscovered fashion.

The second half is made up of all the chartbusters that have rocked not just India , but the world indeed, in the last decade. The works of composers like AR Rehman, Ismail Durbar and Shankar Ehsaan Loy have been choreographed using techniques from Odissi and free body movement to trigger an exhilarating sense of discovery in the observer.
