He has been studying
Odissi under Guru Jhelum Paranjape in Smitalay since 1995. His
devotion to dance in general and to Odissi in particular has no
bounds. He eats, drinks and sleeps dance. This devotion of his,
added with a natural body grace made him an adept dancer. Ankur was
noticed by Guru Padmavibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra and groomed
further by him - as he has done with nearly all the senior students
of Smitalay.
As a college student he
has won the 1st prize in dance competitions conducted by Swar
Sadhana Samiti, Sharada Sangeet Vidyalay and Yuvak
Biradari.

A very sincere and
dedicated teacher at Smitalay's main branch. He looks after the
Panvel branch of Smitalay along with other faculty member Sanatan
Chakravarty.
