Smitalay has over the years been organizing special workshops for its students. These workshops, held during summer or Diwali vacations aim at teaching entirely new items to participants within a span of a week or 10 days. |

June 2011: Guru Smt. Debi Basu taught abhinaya, 'Sakhi He' from poet Jayadeva's Geet Govind to the students of Smitalay from 1st to the 7th of June. May 2011: Guru Smt. Jhelum Paranjape conducted this year's summer workshop of five days, where she taught the Bilahari pallavi to the students of Smitalay. May 2010: The last year, Guru Smt. Jhelum Paranjape conducted the summer workshop. Participants were taught Kalavati Pallavi and Vakratunda. October 2009: Guru Smt. Suhag Nalini Das (daughter in law of Guru Pankaj Charan Das) taught the students of Smitalay Ahalya (an abhinaya) and Shankara Pallavi. October 2008: Guru Shri Ratikant Mohapatra (son of the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra) was invited to conduct this workshop. The students, based on their ability were taught three items, namely - Megh Pallavi, and two abhinayas Jatatavi and Bansi Teji Hela. |
